he pivotal role of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol LDL-C) in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and its schemic complications are well established. Epidemiologic tudies demonstrate a linear relationship between levels of DL-C and the prospective risk of cardiovascular events 1). In animal models, the administration of cholesterol ncreases levels of LDL-C and promotes the formation of esions (2). As a result, considerable effort has been devoted o the development of therapeutic strategies that lower levels f LDL-C to reduce cardiovascular risk. The finding that ecreasing LDL-C with a range of agents in placeboontrolled clinical trials is associated with lower event rates 3–8) has resulted in the incorporation of LDL-C reduction s a cornerstone of therapeutic guidelines aimed at cardioascular prevention. More recent evidence of incremental linical benefit by reducing LDL-C to very low levels 9–11) provides a compelling argument for the use of ntensive lipid lowering in the high-risk patient.

Prognostic value of C-Reactive Protein in Acute Coronary Syndromes
Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is among the most common, serious, chronic and life- threatening illnesses in the world. CAD represents a spectrum of conditions, with acute myocardial infarction at one end of it and silent ischemia at the other. There is growing evidence on importance of prognosis of C- reactive protein (CPR) in unstable angina and this protein is a maker of an adve...
متن کاملبررسی سطح پلاسمایی مالون دی آلدئید ، تروپونین قلبیI و پروتئین واکنشگر C در مبتلایان به بیماریهای عروق کرونر حاد
Introduction & Objective: Ischemic injury of endothelium is associated with prostaglandin synthesis and platelet adhesion and aggregation, which may be associated with the release of aldehydes such as malondialdehyde (MDA). C-reactive protein and cardiac troponin I have been proposed as diagnostic markers of acute coronary syndromes. In this study, we compared the usefulness of plasma MDA as a ...

OBJECTIVES To determine the usefulness of myeloperoxidase in discriminating between patients with acute coronary syndrome and patients with chest pain by other causes. METHODS The study included all patients over 18 years of age who come consecutively to the emergency department from September 2015 to December 2015 with chest pain of non-traumatic origin. The initial patient evaluation was pe...

Myeloid sarcoma of female breast is a rare presentation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The tumor mass may precede or occur concurrently with AML, CML, myeloproliferative disorders, and/or myelodysplastic syndromes. Histologically, it looks like a large cell lymphoma and can be misdiagnosed. A case refe...
متن کاملThe Effect of Two Different Doses of Atorvastatin on Lipoprotein-A on Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome
Background and Objectives: Lipoprotein-a potentially represents a useful tool for risk stratification in cardiovascular accidents. The aim of this study was to evaluate the atorvastatin effect on serum lipid profile & lipoprotein A. Material & Methods: In 2009, 405 patients with acute coronary syndrome randomly were divided into 2 groups, taking 20 & 40 mg atorvastatin daily for 3 months. Lip...
